  • I've been to Recess twice now and I love their concept and their product. I love how cute their products are. We eat with our eyes first and their branding and presentation are on point! Recess is a dessert shop that specializes in soft serve, ice cream, teas, and Italian ice. One of their really cool items is a cup that you can put two different drinks in. Their staff is really small for how busy they get, but they are very knowledgeable and have the ordering process down. At my first visit we got a taro milk tea, a Thai tea, and one of their sundae's that included ice cream AND Italian ice. I have to admit I don't think they go together, but both products are delicious on their own. Their taro milk tea is really good but I wasn't a fan of their Thai tea. I was able to get a taiyaki at my second visit with green tea and ube swirled soft serve. I hear a lot of people complain about the taiyaki not being authentic but I've never tried it before and it was delicious to me. It was like have warm cake with ice cream! Recess is across town for me but it's unique enough for me to travel to. My only complaint is that they were understaffed the times I went so there's usually a line and a wait for your order to be ready. Not a deal breaker for me though as it is worth the wait.
