I should have read the Yelp reviews before going with Dollar. It was a horrible experience. I rented a mid sized car from them a week ago for my birthday weekend in Las Vegas.
DO NOT RENT FROM DOLLAR EVER.
They seemed to be the only antiquated rental agency with no self-service kioks. I waited in line for about 45 minutes before getting a car and the staff appeared to have no sense of urgency. In between servicing customers they disappeared in the back room for several minutes at a time while the line was growing. Once I made it to the counter the process to get a car is quite lengthly and inefficient. They start to ask you about your employer. They try to do a presumptive close on the insurance level you need to buy, and when you decline they spend a lot of time explaining the liability and local rules to scare you into buying the insurance. Everything about the process seemed inefficient and slow which explains why the line was so long.
The kicker is on the car return. I filled the gas tank up past full with the needle clearly way over full line. I barely used any gas and it took only $3 to top off the tank and I didn't keep the receipt. Because I had no receipt (even though the needle was way above full), they charged me another $12 for gas.
This company deserves to go bankrupt since the management structure, policies, customer-service (or lack there off) is geared towards nickel and diming wherever possible to make more margin on their cheap base rates.
DO NOT EVER RENT FROM DOLLAR.
