| - I love traditional Mexican food, so when I came across El Paso, I was excited for another choice for when I was thinking beans and rice.
I wasn't overly impressed by El Paso- the interior was clean and had the usual sombrero's on the wall. The staff was just OK- they took our order and quickly brought our food, which was my minimum for good service.
I was more impressed with the actual food. The menu has lots of good Mexican staples, and some things I've never seen before. For my meal, I tried the chicken with sour cream sauce. I can't remember the actual name of the entree, but if you go, get it. It's small bites of roasted chicken in a sour cream sauce flavored with Mexican spices, and accompanied by rice and beans and hot tortilla shells. I've never had anything like it, especially since sour cream sauce scared me, but it was really good. My wife had the chile rellenos, which were prepared in the more traditional style with the egg sauce on top.
I had an opportunity to try several of my friends' dishes, and they were all tasty, but a little different then my usual Mexican hangout, El Campesino. If you're looking for something a little different in traditional Mexican food and you're not big on ambiance, give El Paso a try.
