After a no show on first tune-up appt. Penguin rescheduled a free tune-up, which we appreciated, however Penguin's prices are significantly higher than competitors for the "recommended" repairs that come from their assessment, despite the system operating without any issue/trouble. Penguin is charging $320 for two pounds of R-22 refrigerant, with a price discount for "preferred customers". That discount is laughable, since that half-price discount is still higher than competitor regular prices. Furthermore, the technician insisted that his estimate of 1lb. of refrigerant was only a "guesstimate" (his words), he suggested that system could need more than two lbs. or perhaps up to 10lbs. We insisted that a professional should be able to provide a better estimate of how much refrigerant is needed, but he suggested that there was no way to tell.
