It's definitely not the best out there but if I don't feel like baking my own, then I may head down there. They bake the cupcakes on site and it's always fresh. But something about the place lacks joie de vivre. The sparse display cases and a limited variety of flavours make the small space feel a tad dreary.
The cupcakes themselves are alright - medium density and ok flavour. The buttercream, I suspect, is actually cut with shortening as it left an oily film on my lips and tongue. At $1.95 each, I expected more.
If you're in a real pinch for a cupcake, Swirls will do but sometimes I'd rather do without.
