  • Pogue Mahone is a pretty standard Irish pub. It's usually not too busy because the location is a little awkward - connected to College Park, just west of Yonge. If there's sun on the patio you may be able to get a spot here while everything else is full. My most recent visit was on St. Patty's Day so it was quite the crowd. We showed up at noon and got a table before there was a massive lineup that started around 1:30pm. They converted half the patio into a tented waiting area with overpriced Guiness on tap...luckily we could skip straight past that and into the pub. The atmosphere was great, there was some expectedly kitschy live music, and our service was very prompt given the place was filled to capacity. For food we had the poutine and nachos. The poutine was great - not huge, but packed with cheese, real bacon bits, green onions, and gravy. It's an Irish-style poutine with melted cheddar (I think) instead of cheese curds, so not very traditional, but tasty nonetheless. The nachos were very basic, nothing really to mention. It's a pretty big joint with a raised bar area completely surrounded by booths and long tables. Not a bad place to grab some pints with a group of friends or to celebrate one of the best holidays of the year.
