  • My Wife and I were taken out to dinner to here by another couple that is friends of ours as a thank you. Oh was it a thank you. We started out with drinks on the patio while we waited for our table reservation to start. The view across Phoenix was exceptional. The drinks where nothing special, as we started with some beers, and my wife a Santa Margherita Pino Grigio. The ambiance outside was fantastic as we had a reservation for 7 that allowed us to enjoy the Famous Arizona sunsets. Once our table was ready, we continued to enjoy outside for a bit longer. It was fantastic to just sit, relax, and commiserate with our friends with out feeling rushed into our seating. After going in, we were at at a table next to the window, the only issue with the seating was that their was a small but powerful light shining down into my eyes at table position 2, but our server Ian was more that happy to fix it by turning the ambient lighting down in the entire restaurant so it wasn't grating on my vision. The dinner was started with drinks, Crown Royal Cask no16 for me, beer for My friend and his wife, and my wife was still working.on her 500ml bottle of Santa Margherita. We ordered a full 5 course meal. My wife and I split the Seared Berkshire Pork Belly as my appetizer, the other couple had the Sweet Italian Sausage and Fresh Mozzarella Raviolis. The arrived hot, and Fresh. The flavor was incredible, and the presentation a master-piece. I then had the Belgium Endive with Blood Oranges. I will say that this was in fact one of the best salads I have ever had. I ended up sharing a leaf with each of my friends and wife just so they could taste it. We took a short break from dinner, talked, order more drinks (beers for all of us except my wife who had a Stella Red), and then shortly after dinner was presented. I say it was a presentation, as again, the attention to detail and visual aesthetics that went into the plate presentation where astounding. I had the Rosemary Sented Grilled Venison Tenderloin. This was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, sliced into medallions, then placed on what could be described as sweet potato hash browns. The Port Demi Glace was just perfect. The presentation was beautiful, but the flavor was incredible! Both woman ordered the grilled New York Strip Steak. My wife had her prepared Black & Blue. For those of you who don't know, this is difficult to do as it is blacked, but not charred on the outside, & only slightly warm on the inside. Blackened not charred means the meat is crispy, but no large hunks of carbon hanging on the outside of the steak. It is absolutely fantastic when done correctly, and can be a pit fall and ruin the steak when done poorly. This was the epitome of a Black & Blue steak. Perfection. My friend's wife had hers medium-well, and while not my cup of tea, it was still very moist and tender, but deep read in the center. My friend had the Brandy Vanilla Poached Maine Lobster. It was also just fantastic. The lobster was silken in texture, not a single rubbery or chewy bit. For dessert the women split the Chocolate and Sweet Basalmic Cherry Cake. It was gone almost as soon as it hit the table top. I had the Warm Cinnamon Bread Pudding. It was good, but the sauce was really what made it. Wasn't fond of the partially spun sugar that it was topped with, but only becuase it was the ONLY part of the meal (the garnish on the desert that is) that felt not 100% authentic, but kind of short cut. (It was done on a mat instead of the traditional hanging style that I would have preffered). But seriously, that how nitt-picky you have to be to find something wrong with our meal. You have to decide that a completely subjective choice by the pastry chef wasn't the best call. Seriously though, it was very good. The coffee after the meal was good. Strong, some what acidic, but not bitter. My wife drank it black while I needed just a touch of cream. Over all, the quality and presentation of the food at Different Point of View, as well as the exceptional service provided by Ian made it THE most memorable date, let alone double date I have ever been on. We will be back.
