| - Coming from the South I am very particular about my barbecue but Bill Spoon's Barbecue met my expectations and then some. Before walking in I was told this place had been around for ages, so I thought they must be doing something right. Boy was I right! When I walked in, a soft smile came upon my face as it reminded me of my grandmother's house in the little town of Florence, South Carolina; very dated, original, yet ever so warming.
I was greeted with a smile and seated fast, Ricky Bobby fast. Once seated the waitress asked if we needed a minute. I looked down at the menu and saw the daily special was $11 which included BBQ, fresh coleslaw, choice of fixin', hushpuppies and a drink; even Howie Mandel would of said thats a deal. The food came out quick and I have to say I was shocked. The BBQ looked amazing, finely chopped and juicy. I ate a piece without my fork, I couldn't wait. My choice of fixin' was mac n' cheese, it was so stringy just how I like it. The coleslaw was interesting, since I have never had mustard base before, however, I tried it and found out it wasn't my thing. The hush puppies were crispy and soft. But, what really stood out to me was the service; the service the entire time was more on point than a German Shorthair on a pheasant. Filling waters and asking if everything was well the entire time, showed true southern charm.
After I ate all my food, I asked if they had a wheelbarrow to roll me out. Apparently they get that a lot and they threw me in one and wheeled me to my car. That is not true, but if I had asked they would have. Now that's customer service! Lastly, I would like to know where I could find Bill Spoon? I would like to sit on a porch somewhere and crack open a cold one and eat some BBQ with him. Thank you Bill and the people who work here.
