Let me start by saying I'm a former Lowes employee. (No not one that was recently laid off. I left in 2011). I have been a very loyal lowes customer for the better part of 20 years. However, recently, the customer service has gone south fast. Recently got polyurethane as part of a project to refinish a family antique. After a weeks worth of work stripping, sanding, staining. It was ready for the finish. On goes the minwax polyshades. And next thing I know it bubbles and takes 7days to dry. Now anyone can get a bad batch, and it's possible that there was still residue from the stripper, but let me say that I've been refinishing furniture for 27 years, so I'm not a novice. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was informed that 5 other folks had returned the product recently. Does the manager offer to refund or replace the product? No. He proceeds to tell me that I messed up and tries to sell me a radial sander which a) I don't want and b) I don't need. Never once apologizes for the inconvenience, and never does one thing to even address my dissatisfaction. I am hesitating to shop the Belmont location any more. Not the first negative customer service experience I've had here lately, but now I think we've found the root of the problem in the "frankly I don't give a d---" management style. Very disappointed. I'll be making the 10 minute drive to Gastonia as much as possible going forward.
