I've been hearing about this place for over 10 years now. We finally got to go for my father-in-law's birthday dinner.
We all thought how cool it was to enter through the kitchen. I like the very dated velvety dark steak house decor. "It smells like coffee in here." My son announced. Almost like stepping into a timewarp when cigar smoking was allowed.
I decided to order Manhattan Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes ($36) with chipotle aioli and a side of fries I shared with my cutie pie. I've had crab cakes that are mostly bread crumbs with crab flavoring...well this one is all lump crab meat lightly breaded and pan fried. Two six ounce cakes, one for me and the other for the little monster seafood eater. Fries were thin and crispy, just the way we like it. I still prefer New England Chowda with fresh clams thrown in at the very end. This soup had chewy canned clams.
My hubby ordered the 12oz Prime Rib ($29), a side of baked potato and house salad. When it came out, it looked like one full pounder! Man, did that look good. I begged for a bite of that juicy piece of meat! Sooo good! He couldn't finish the whole thing. Even with a small bite, that was the best prime rib I've ever had!
FIL decided on a ginger glazed Salmon ($30) with a side of mashed potatoes and house salad. If we had known, we would've taken him to a seafood restaurant instead of a steak house. Thank goodness he was happy with his meal. We had to take the complimentary dessert (chocolate decadence) home. We were stuffed!
We will definitely be back for more!
