| - We were a group of 18 who went for lunch at Mango Bay. We reserved three days in advance to ensure that they would be staffed to properly serve a relatively large group. The table was ready on time, but the rest of the experience was a complete disaster.
Despite being the only people in the restaurant, the service was ridiculously slow, confused, and unprofessional. Here's is a recap:
1. Menus distributed - fine
2. Glasses with water distributed - fine...until several people realized there were fruit flies in the water. About half of us had at least 1, 2 or 3 fruit flies in their glasses. One even had a small worm! Many of us had already drunk some water before noticing. I went to the waitress to inform her. She just shrugged and said she didn't understand how that was possible, and offered to give us all fresh glasses. Another waitress came to swap about 4 glasses of water, then disappeared. We just left the water glasses aside.
3. Orders taken - fine...most people ordered the jerk chicken combo, and a few other simple meals.
4. Drinks Served - Some drinks served (soft drinks, beers). Other drinks completely forgotten (the wine for the birthday girl, a couple of the other beers), despite a couple of reminders that we were missing drinks.
5. Meals Served...in the most ridiculous way ever... a complete joke:
- We wait, and wait, and wait. 30 mins later, my meal arrives. No one elses.
- 15 mins later, a couple of appetizers.
- Then 15 mins later, a couple more. But it's total confusion. They bring out some plates that no-one ordered. They don't know who ordered what.
- The waitresses start asking those still waiting what they had ordered, even though it was MOSTLY THE SAME order.
- Meals come out randomly. Finally half of us are served, so we start eating (at the others' insistence).
- The remaining half of the group (who were still waiting) finally start getting their main meals without the appetizers that were included in the combo.
- 1.5 hours later, with many people finished, about 6 people are still waiting for their meals! 3 people get them...start eating.
- We have to get back to work...it's almost 2:00 p.m., and the other 3 are still waiting and getting frustrated. They ask for their meals to go. 2 meals get served on plates (not "to go"), so they decide to eat there quickly.
- The last guy is really pissed. Says to cancel the order, and he'll just pay for his beer. As we are all waiting in line at the cash to pay, the last meal comes out, in a bag, ready for take out. They bluntly ask him if he wants it or not - without offering it to him for free. Frankly, we should have all received our meals for free.
OVERALL - the WORST service any of us has ever had in a restaurant. We were all joking about it at first, but it became very frustrating after 2.5 hours of absurdity. The sad part is that the food was actually pretty good, and the girls seemed nice - just completely clueless when it comes to customer service.
The kitchen staff are clearly disorganized and completely incompetent. I could have prepared and served these meals to everyone myself in half the time. I don't understand how they can operate when the restaurant is actually full.
