| - The were some definite pros and cons at Mastros.
The service was top notch, very impressed. Sat on the edge of the tree house area, prime spot.
Had lemon drop martinis throughout the night, they are served with dry ice so it appears as tough there's smoke coming from the bottom. Very nice, cool experience!
Ordered bone marrow and 3 MASSIVE shrimp for an appetizer (served with dry ice as well). The bone marrow comes with bread, I had never had it before but since everyone raved I thought I would give it a try...it was very good but I don't know what the hype is all about, in general---it's just a delicacy? The shrimp were delicious but I was not a fan of the cocktail sauce...waaaay too strong for me.
Ordered the lobster tail, not impressed at all. However, if you like a smoky taste on seafood, then by all means, order it. I was not a fan in the least, very disappointed. For sides I had the Gorgonzola mac & cheese and chic peas. Both are buttered to perfection, definitely worth the fat and calories.
I also happened to go on my birthday so they surprised me with their Butter Cake (with ice cream and whipped cream) everyone couldn't stop talking about and OMG I completely understand why. I would have never chosen to order it but I can say, with confidence, that this is hands down one of the tastiest, most well made desserts I have ever eaten. You have not lived until you try it.
