  • At a family gathering we stopped in to pick up dessert along the way in Ajax. I didn't go in so can only comment on the take out items in the store. Nova Era is a European bakery that specialises more towards Portuguese desserts with several locations across the GTA. We had several items including custard pudding, almond tarts and of course traditional Portuguese eggs tarts. They were all very good, on the sweeter side but not too sweet where you would go into a diabetic coma:). The shell of the egg tarts were crispy and flaky which contrasted well with the soft egg custard filling. No wonder why they are the most popular item in Portuguese desserts! Overall a very good option especially considering there's not a lot of specialty bakeries in the Durham region. Will definitely come again if we are in the area.
