  • I used to see Dr. Bartell years ago when I lived in Phoenix before, so upon returning to the Valley, I naturally felt inclined to revisit her. I'm not disappointed in her care. Her office staff, however, left much to be desired considering there are so many other options in healthcare in the valley. I had numerous issues- (1) The phone constantly rings busy, requiring you to continuously redial in hopes that you'll get through. (2) My first visit was for a routine well-woman exam, in which I requested a new birth control pill because my old pill was causing discomfort. (3) Upon checking out, the lady took the hard copy prescription Dr. Bartell gave me and said I was ready to leave. ...they'd electronically send the prescription over she said. I visited and called my CVS before Cornerstone's closing that day, and yet they still hadn't sent the prescription over. I called Cornerstone back and left a message requesting they fax the prescription, as I suspected their electronic system was not working. The next day, still no fax received by CVS. So I call Cornerstone again, they say they faxed the prescription, but CVS's pharmacist, who I personally know, was standing there as I was on the phone with Cornerstone saw no fax come through. (No other faxes were received at that time, so it wasn't a signal jam.) Whatever the technical issue, it was not on CVS's end, because they were successfully receiving other faxes and electronic prescriptions that entire day. Bottom line, it took 3 days for my prescription to be delivered to my CVS. (4) The new pill Dr. Bartell prescribed caused the same issue as my previous pill (which causes great discomfort), so I called back to request a different pill. I was told I needed to be re-seen by Dr Bartell, but that I couldn't get in for another 2 wks. Mind you, I was in great discomfort and explained that to the lady answering the phones. No matter; she indicated 2 wks out was all they had. So I schedule that. (5) On the day of my appointment, 40 minutes before I was supposed to leave for my appointment, Cornerstone called me to tell me that Dr. Bartell was held up in surgery - my appt would need to be rescheduled. The earliest they could fit me in would be a week & a half away. So I tell the lady, "I'm having x-issue with this pill, which is why I need to be seen ASAP, so should I just go to an urgent care for a new pill or what?" The office worker then says a nurse practitioner can see me the next day at 1:30. I have no idea why I wasn't offered immediate help the first time I called in to say the pill I was put on was ailing me. I originally explain in detail that I was experiencing great discomfort, so why that wasn't seen as a priority the first time I called in, I don't know. Incompetence? Disinterest? I don't know. Either way, it reads that they don't care. I called a competitor, Camelback Women's Health, which is rated higher than Cornerstone on Yelp. They scheduled me for the next day - 2 hours earlier than Cornerstone could get me in. I'm giving 2 stars to Cornerstone only because, to be fair, Dr. Bartell competently treated me in my well-woman exam and seemed kind. But their office management, including customer service, gets 1 verrrrry dull star.
