| - It's hard for me to critique hotels. I'm not incredibly difficult to please. I like it clean, comfortable and relatively quiet (just enough to allow for rest...but not so stuffy that my kids can get kicked out for typical boy shenanigans--don't worry, my kids are under control so don't start running when you see us coming). Silverton, although not terribly luxurious, hits all those points. It's off the Strip so there's not as much foot traffic and the Huz really liked the fact that it's easy to get on & off the Hwy and everything that's worth getting to is close enough, yet far enough (you know what I mean). The pool is very nice (although small in size) and I love the trees that surround it--it provides lots of good shade and if you decide to swim towards the late afternoon or early evening, the sun doesn't directly hit the pool area so you don't feel like you're being burned alive. They open fairly late...until 10pm each evening except when there are private parties or concerts. On our weekend here, there was a concert Saturday evening. Our room faces the pool, so I was able to catch the performance from our window and it was wonderful! The only downside is that the pool is closed during these special events so the boys weren't too happy about it. But it's not like there aren't a hundred different things to do besides. There is a beautiful aquarium (pretty well known in the area) and if you're lucky you can catch real live mermaids (we missed them this time around) or divers cleaning the tank (that we did get to see and the guys loved it). It's connected to a huge Bass Pro shop as well so you can do some shopping there if you're so inclined. I wish they had a coffee maker inside the room, but there is a Starbucks downstairs & inside the casino so if you're truly addicted, there are options. The buffet is standard with many options--pricier during the weekend & much more affordable during the week. There is a daily resort free which includes use of Wi-Fi which has a relatively strong signal once you sign the waiver. Although I feel no loyalty and will always shop around for the most affordable deal when going to Vegas, I did like this place & would have no issue whatsoever with returning.
