| - Verde Valley pruned a palo verde tree for me a year ago and did an adequate job. I called and made an appointment to have their tree man, John, come to our home to give an estimate for pruning the tree again to prevent damage during the current Monsoon season. He missed the appointment this morning. His office called and made another appointment for this afternoon between 3 and 3:30. About 3:50 his office called to say he had been here. We were surprised because, since we were waiting in the house for him, he didn't let us know he was here. I made the appointment because I wanted to discuss the specifics of thinning and pruning the tree, it has become quite heavy, has grown over the roof and has a huge canopy almost 50 ft in diameter. His office asked if I wanted to talk to him. I said yes, and heard his office assistant say "you have to talk to him". Apparently he thought it unnecessary. When he did pick up, he was unapologetic, said he didn't need to talk to me in order to quote the job. I said I needed talk to him about the specifics. he asked me "well, what did you want to do?" Had he had the courtesy to see me when he drove by, I could have shown him, but certainly couldn't describe which overlapping branches, etc, needed to be cut over the phone. It's one of those "you had to be there" situations. He said He didn't need any advice, he "was a professional", at which point I terminated the conversation.
