  • I've stayed at the Aloft in Charlotte several times over the past few months. I'll just say that It's a solid hotel but would not be my first choice if it was not a Starwood hotel and if I did not get points. I am on the account of a bank in town and have to stay at one of their preferred hotels. This is the only hotel that I can stay at in Uptown and get Starwood points. The Aloft chain, in general, caters to a younger crowd. It's a more modern, streamlined décor. The rooms are what I refer to as dormroom-esque, but are to be more like lofts (ergo the name). The closet is a graduated rack behind a curtain that has about 5 hangers. If you are in a king-bed room, you get one rack, in a 2 queen-bed room - 2 racks. Not much space for hanging clothes. There are no drawers, either, but I just keep my clothes in my suitcase. At this location, the AC/heaters are pretty loud. It doesn't bother me, because it just adds white noise. Also, since this is in the EpiCentre, if you are here on a Thursday through Saturday night, ask to stay on the "quiet side". Otherwise, you will be treated to a free concert in your room until late due to the live music places in the complex. They provide ear plugs or white noise machine, but I'm not sure how well that helps. The front desk help is ALWAYS very friendly and most of them know me by name. The work out room is sufficient but always VERY warm. There are several aerobic machines including treadmill, elliptical and bike. There are free weights and one weight machine. You cannot call the front desk via extension but need to call a number. There is no room service, but a self-service snack area in the lobby that you pay for at the front desk. Also in the lobby is XYZ bar, a pool table and seating areas. In order to get to the lobby, you take an EpiCentre elevator to floor 5. Then, once in lobby, you take another elevator to your room. Both elevators can be relatively slow during peak times, but nothing crazy. So, would I recommend staying here? Sure. Just realize what you are getting. The location is great and I have been very pleased with the customer service.
