| - Manitou Springs, Colorado. Mmm. Beautiful. West Palm Beach. Ahh. Serene. Downers Grove and Long Grove, Illinois. I'm getting the pattern, now... Wait. Medina? Ohio? Medina, Ohio?
The Olive Tap. What an oasis of quality, of taste, of civilization in yet another abominable strip mall in the heartland of America. The Olive Tap is the fifth location (see above) of this company, serving up some of the most amazing oils I have ever tasted.
Here's how it works: Somewhere near fifty large stainless steel vessels, which remind me of maple syrup evaporators, sit on shelves. They contain olive oils and balsamic vinegars from around the world. Grab a tiny tasting cup, and turn the tap: Taste one. Hell, taste them all. I had no idea there were this many flavor options. I tried, I really did, to get out of there without an armful of product. No dice. I bought the oil, the pita chips, the this, and some of the that. The Girls got some lotions, some balms. I think I lost count.
The woman working at the Medina location could be my poster child for retail restoration: well-informed, courteous, ready for business or conversation, whatever it takes. She got my money. And I'm glad she did.
