  • I am chiefly giving Eyenstein's a five-star review, because they managed a problem that I had with intelligence and integrity, and this is indeed no slight: for a business to handle the complaint of a customer in this way deserves high marks. It was recommended by the optometrist there that I get progressive lenses, and so I went ahead and ordered those, but over the several weeks of trying them out I was sorely displeased. The opticians, however, (and let me note Tim in particular, who was very helpful and understanding) assured me that they would "make it right" if I did not like my progressive lenses. So after my having already bought two pairs of progressive lenses, Eyenstein's changed the lenses for both pairs of glasses to a single prescription at my request and at no extra cost. In addition to this, it is worth noting, I showed them a very unusual pair of screw-mounted glasses, and their lab was able to shape new lenses in the exact shape of those rimless lenses for my current prescription. For any who really pay attention to these reviews, let me offer an additional bit of counsel. If you are told that you may need bifocals, trifocals, or progressive lenses, know this about progressive lenses and ask your optician or optometrist (indeed my chief trouble was that I was not told this). Progressive lenses lack a proper focus at the right and left sides of the lenses. The physics of how these lenses are constructed to have no lines makes them blurry (that is to say, not any of your prescriptions) at the left and right. For many this is perfectly acceptable for having glasses with no lines. It was, however, quite unpleasant to me. And I discerned after a few weeks with that progressive prescription that I could actually still read just fine without the need of a secondary prescription (so for my own part, bifocals may one day be necessary, and I will take them as I may need them, but I shall take them at that time as old-fashioned lined bifocals, because the distortion on the sides of progressive lenses just plum drives me nuts). In any event, this is a five-star review. If my further remarks on the oddities of progressive lens physics may edify anyone, then so much the better. Eyenstein's did right by me, and I am very happy with my new glasses.
