The worst. Dr. Glen L. Portwood, MD saw me for literally 10 min on a first patient appointment and decided I needed a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. When I got home and settled in to the idea of 2 procedures I called my insurance company to see that they cover and it was 70% after I meet my deductible. So I called the billing department at Dr. Portwoods office and was informed that I would be billed 2 facility fees and 2 anesthesia fees. When I asked why the woman can me a very empty answer "thats just the way we do it". Ummm okay. So I called the practice manager and she told me that it was medicare protocol. I have no idea what that means since i use blue cross blue shield, but i found another place that does not do this and it saved me about $800. This is price gouging. I do not care if its the way you do it because its "medicare protocol." I am an intelligent person and I know that its a way for you to get away with cheating people. Your organization is price gouging people who are sick. I am going into a building once and laying down on one bed one time. Why am I being charged 2 facility fees? I am being given anesthesia one time, why and I being charge 2 fees? WHY? Its so sick. And its so wrong. These greedy doctors and greedy corporations just want to suck people dry until nothing is left. I pay for good insurance. we are hard workers. But unless you are sick you dont realize how its these doctors and medical corporations that really take everything you have and that is their goal...money money money. Its not how to I make someone better. That type of doctor and medical care is a lost art.
