Was verbally quoted $45 for a part (have two witnesses). Plumber came back and fixed the job and a different employee signed a bill for $571.19. I was shocked and called the company and they said the part was $150 and the rest was for "the rest of the job". He was at our business less than an hour total. I asked for an itemized bill breakdown of parts vs. labor and was told that ' they don't work that way", they just give a total job cost.
Well, in our case the "authorization to proceed with work" spot is completely blank on the receipt. They never got prior authorization to proceed with this overpriced plumbing job. Beware of their business practices, there are many plumbers that will provide and get your signature on an estimate broken down by parts and labor, prior to the job. And any reputable business at all will provide a breakdown of what you are being charged for.
