I get so inspired with food markets, esp. new ones and culturally elevated experiences! After a night at Anju when we found out our popsicle desserts came from T&T, I was so excited when we drove upon this place in our exploratory Calgary travels! Score! I was out of the car before my husband could even park the car! Into the market I went, and right turn into the bakery - soooo many yummy things to choose from. First it just went to looking - then grabbing a little red pulley cart with a squeaky wheel that hubby was so thrilled to navigate as I drooled down the aisles! (not so much, hehe but he is a good sport!) I have a rule. In any grocery mart unless I am in a major hurry, I go down every aisle. It is good exercise! Well, we did this - twice. You want fresh produce and fish - it is here. And you know, this place surprised me in that it did not smell all that fishy as most do. I was impressed with the cleanliness of this place and the organization, not to mention the selection. I kept on explaining, "Ohhh what is THIS?" I travel so much that I am used to being the only white person in any given area so I felt like I could come in here and make it my regular go-to place for cool stuff like bamboo shoots and lemon grass and 10 different kinds of mushrooms. I like to think I am a creative home chef and here gives you as little taste of another part of the world. I am happy to explore further depths of my cooking and my hubby is pleased to eat! We left here with a big bag of stuff for $11. Not bad - I felt a lot of items had lower prices than other supermarkets. We even found HUGE well cut steaks for $5.
Service friendly as well at check-out.
I am off now to drink my new coconut water....
