| - As a fashion stylist, I am constantly trying to find great tailors as they are a dying breed. I have referred aver 25 clients to Habib and I was so happy to find him because he is talented...... when he wants to be. I have always had to caution my clients that his bedside manner and the stench and the fact that he has not cleaned the place since 1980 (I had to use the bathroom in the back once; I was scared to use it and there were empty cigarette boxes and garbage littering the floor), will be very off-putting, but I used to think he was worth putting up with that. Lately, he has gotten to be a little too much to handle. He has told two of my clients that they had to leave and make an appointment because they were bringing him too many things at once (about 10-15 items with basic needs such as hemming). His nor do he have any signs that state that you need to make an appointment. This was starting to frustrate me because I have sent him a ton of business and if he's too busy, people are willing to wait for good service and proper alterations. Plus, every time I am there other people come in with loads of things and he says nothing to them. Then he started complaining that he was too sore and his hips hurt so he couldn't measure people. His studio very far away from ALL of my clients and they go out of their way to give him their business. I am unable to endorse him or refer him anymore and I would advise you not go to him. One of my clients whom he originally shooed away, who brought 15 pieces with basic hemming, that should have been no problem, had a problem. I have had to re-alter three dresses and one dress was uneven in the back, the lining was hanging out three inches and it was a raw hem that should have been cut with an olfa cutter was cut with scissors so the hemline was jagged. I do have high expectations and I know what his level of work is and this was not up to par. I called him to talk to him about it and he immediately got defensive and started yelling at me. I event bought another exact same dress and brought the one he did to shoe him the drastic difference. While examining his work with him, we discovered a place where he cut the dress. It is ruined. I told him I think he should pay for another one since he ruined it. The dress is now too short in the back with the lining hanging out and longer in the front. He said I will pay you nothing. He took no ownership of his shoddy work. I asked him if a 335.00 dress was worth losing 25 client's business. He said, "It's my word against yours, and I am a honest person." So now he's calling me a liar. Save your money, patience and sanity (and your nose cause it stinks to high heaven in there) and go somewhere else. His demeanor and piss poor customer service, ownership and professionalism is not worth getting an alteration that may or may not be done well.
I can relate to other reviewers like the one who said he told her he needed to see a picture of her boyfriend. That is totally Habib and in my book, totally unprofessional.
