  • I am on the fence about the new Stoney's location at Town Square. I loved the old location and I am not sure why they moved - there was tons of parking and it seemed like a big enough place. This location is all shiny and new and has all of the same things, but it just feels like a big, open space. There is nothing particularly special or inviting about it. I was there very late on a Saturday night (like 2am), and was surprised that we had to pay a $10 per person cover. Once we got inside, there weren't very many people there (big surprise). The dance floor was pretty much dead, and it was definitely the "B" team out there - and that's being nice. One of my friends with me is from Tennessee and was excited to check it out - in fact, we went just for her. Her comment was "this is the worst country bar I've ever been to." Now, it's obviously hard to compare to something in Tennesee or Texas, but she is right. Stoney's is trying to market itself as more of a "lounge," with the VIP tables, mix of old school hip hop, beer pong, etc. I am not sure I understand why - I think that a true country place would thrive here, simply because there aren't a lot of options. Drink prices are reasonable. However, at the bar, I only saw Busch and Busch Light on tap (YUCK!)....Um, who really drinks that crap?! Sounds like a case of the bubble guts later. Ew. We ordered Newcastle bottles, and they smelled really skunky... it was disappointing. Plus, the bartender was too busy talking to other employees than helping us. She was extremely slow and not friendly at all. Another disappointment. I love country music, but the DJ was horrible. I wonder if he ever questions himself as to why nobody was on the dancefloor? I am not sure that this place is worth ever visiting again - unless it's during NFR, PBR or ACMA week when there are REAL cowboys and cowgirls there and not some wannabes.
