  • While visiting Toronto this past weekend, my boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand. Such a nice hotel! They really impressed me with the service, though. We took a red-eye flight into town so we arrived at the hotel around 7am. All we wanted to do was sleep for a few hours before having to do anything. Amazingly, they let us go ahead and check in that early! I think we must have gotten lucky that someone either checked out super early or didn't show up for the night before. We did call ahead and ask for an early check-in, but were told that it may not be possible because the hotel was full the night before. We were shocked to be allowed up to our room so early. The woman at the front desk also suggested we go ahead and take advantage of the free breakfast before going upstairs to sleep. Awesome, now we're fed and we can go to sleep. The bed was super comfortable. I'm allergic to down and had forgotten to mention that to them. Luckily, the closet already had spare foam pillows and a blanket to use instead of the feather stuff. Yay! The view was spectacular, too (we were on the 18th floor). Our room had a little mini kitchen in it, which we did not expect. Everything was clean, the shower worked great and housekeeping was very friendly and happy to oblige when we asked to have our room cleaned a bit late in the day. I don't swim in public pools (yuck), but the pool and roof-top hot tubs were really spectacular looking. Kind of neat if you're into that kind of thing. You can get room service around the clock, including options for a vegan like me. Yay! That rarely happens. The free breakfast is full of hot food. Eggs, bacon, sausages and potatoes and an assortment of breads and jams and pastries as well as fresh fruit, juices, teas and coffees. Not bad for free, I think. I'd stay here again for sure.
