| - I honestly do not know where to start. Dr. Kwatra is an amazing doctor, although she can be guilty of rushing through her patients. When addressed, she handles criticism well and will do everything in her power to meet your needs. She is down to earth, more than competent in her field, she just runs a busy practice. Her downfall is allowing Cheryl Cook to be her office manager!! I have been trying to retrieve pertinent medical records for 2 weeks. I am weeks away from having my 2nd baby and have been diagnosed with fetal macrosomia. The baby is expected to be 10 lbs or more, and now I have a time sensitive decision on how to move forward with my birth plan given this new information. After several unanswered voicemails and one email, the office manger Cheryl called me at my place of employment. She said she has located my records but will only disclose them IF I pay a past due balance that I was unaware of. The balance is $91.94. I explained I would be happy to pay the balance out of my next pay or even set up an arrangement. I told her she could email the invoice and I would take care of it, but that I wasn't in a position to pay it today. Like most, I'm paycheck to paycheck and I don't get paid until next week, which will also start the beginning of my unpaid 8 week maternity leave. I was very calm in how I spoke with her, and again.....requested my records (which by LAW are mine) because they are time sensitive, not a balance from 3 years ago that I'm just now discovering. She was very rude, combative, insensitive, and shaming. She said "you wouldn't go into a grocery store and buy food without paying would you?" She went on to shame me about stiffing the doctor and said I could have just as easily raised my hand and stopped Dr. Kwatra from performing the biopsy. I explained, again, that I was unaware she was doing a biopsy (1) and (2) that my insurance wouldn't cover it. I moved in 2013 and now live out of state. I never received a bill. I said to Cheryl, woman to woman, you are upsetting me. I am afraid and anxious and have less than 4 weeks until I deliver. I'm about to enter unpaid leave and I'm 9 months pregnant. Surely you aren't going to blackmail me and demand payment TODAY or withhold my records......records that are medically necessary to decide I am to deliver via C-section or otherwise? I said this is a very big decision for me, one that I have lost sleep over.....am I not worth more than $91? She REFUSED to release my records and said she would defer me to Dr. Kwatra for further review. WOW....crying and shaking at work, all upset,......because I'm an unpaid, past due balance, not a human being.
Cheryl spoke of her good work in orphanages...where is her humanity now?
