  • This place could be so much better. Came here for a birthday getaway, an my expectations fell short. Let's start with check in. Check in: Loren was nice. He was presentable and his attitude was amazing. However, I reserved a KING ROOM WITH BALCONY. I was informed that I was going to be given a 2 QUEEN WITH A BALCONY room instead. I specifically did my reservation over the phone to make sure everything we be perfect for check in. Loren made sure to do the best he could to change it, but we were left with a view of the parking lot. *What a beautiful sight!* Note sarcasm. Dinner: We decided that since there was already going to be a hold on the card for incidentals, we would just charge our dinner to the room. While our meats were cooked to perfection, they put WAY too much garlic on the potatoes and steamed veggies. They could have tasted so much better. Bar: After dinner we headed over to the bar. The female bartended wasn't too interested in helping us. Someone was there to celebrate their birthday and they were clearly more important. I guess my birthday wasn't as important as I thought it was, or as important as the other person celebrating. My other half ordered me a "special birthday drink", basically asking the bartender to make their specialty drink for me, while I was in the bathroom. She replied to him, "We don't comp any drinks for anyone for any reason." WE DIDN'T ASK FOR A COMP OR FOR A FREE DRINK. WE ASKED YOU WHAT YOU LIKED TO MAKE OR WHAT YOU FELT WAS SPECIAL. When I returned, I he informed me he just decided to order me my favorite drink instead of a surprise new drink. Whiskey Sour... It fell waaay short. Where did she get her bartending experience. He said light sweet and sour but squeeze some fresh oranges in it. She informed us that she had to save her oranges for her "traveler".... She refused to give us more than 2 orange slices. At this time we tried several times to get her attention to get the check for our drinks. IGNORED. So we left cash for what we thought the drinks would cost and tip. We decided we had had enough. The slots are super tight, her attitude completely threw my mood for a loop. I was ready to just say, "screw it!" and head back down the mountain and just sleep in my own bad. My other half convinced me to say, so we hung out in our room and decided to have a glass of wine. We brought our own bottle but forgot our cork screw. I asked Loren at the front desk if he could assist me with the cork. He said to give him just one moment and he would be back to help. When he returned he informed me that I would have to step into the bar because the female bartender was demanding a $10 fee to open our SINGLE bottle of wine. Ridiculous. She stated that she was the most senior bartender, so she was able to waive that fee for me. In the end, I think Loren must have reminded her it was my birthday and she did it for free. But why put your guests through that stress? Breakfast: the waitstaff informed the group of 4 in front of us that they didn't have any room for them and they would be better off ordering breakfast from the bar. GREAT. So we expected to hear the same line. A busser ended up seating us, getting our drinks, and taking our meal order. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy while my other half ordered Eggs Benedict. Biscuits and Gravy: stale HARD biscuits, topped with THIN, WATERY...water with a poor excuse of sausage. There wasn't anything gravy about that gravy. Our waitress finally came over and asked how the meal was. I told her in a way as nice as possible that I was unsatisfied with the meal. She took it off the bill no problem. However, that was the first time she approached us. She seemed....tired? timid? bored? annoyed? Her hair was not neatly pulled back and her make up was a little smudged. Rough morning? Late night? Eggs Benedict: my other half didn't have much to say about it other than Denny's makes it a LITTLE better, which is saying something. We went back to our room. We were informed that since my other half ordered the romance package, we would have complimentary late check out. Got back to the room shortly after 11am and my key DIDN'T WORK. He had forgotten his in the room so we were forced to visit the front desk. It was starting to pick up with travelers wanting to check in and take pictures in the storm that was approaching. The woman at the front desk informed in that my key didn't work because it was next to my cellphone. "We are old school and our keys aren't that great." I didn't buy the line. Once we were back in the room, I tried the key that hadn't been next to a cellphone or credit cards. It still didn't work...Weird....Probably because they didn't change our check out to 1:30pm!!!! Noon quickly approached and house keeping was knocking at our door to make sure we were out so that they could clean the room. Well, so much for relaxing before coming back down the mountain. The sheets also had some preexisting stains!
