  • I really want to like this place. But I've been here twice now with issues both times. First time I came here my parents brought me for my birthday. The food we got was good, pimento cheese dip, shrimp n grits, and my burger was excellent. The service however was terrible, it was as if we were an inconvenience since shortly after we came in a table of what I can only assume were the waiters friends came in and that is where he would remain for the rest of our meal. It took ages to order or to get refills or anything because he was so distracted. Note: we were the only other table in there. I'm not high maintenance when it comes to service but this was ridiculous. And to add I didn't think the banana pudding was very good. Waaaaayyy too sweet for me. Second time the service was wonderful, though we we got there later in the night and were the only table there. She was really sweet, food was delivered promptly, drinks never went empty, but the food left a lot to be desired. It started off good with the deviled eggs, which oddly came accompanied by a dark nut sort of bread and jam. Confusing to say the least. My dude ordered the spicy chicken and dumplings which really just tasted like chicken shreds in gravy poured over a little biscuit with a kick. And it was $16 bucks for that. No side, no DUMPLINGS, just a biscuit (he said tasted frozen) in there in lieu of dumplings. When normally you would get both. Disappointing and he was still starving afterwards. I ordered the burger I had remembered so fondly and it was not nearly as good as the memory. It came out over cooked from the medium rare that I ordered which would have been fine if the meat was seasoned properly but it was pretty bland. The pimento cheese I paid extra to add was barely noticeable in flavor or otherwise. As I said I wish I liked it but unfortunately it's just going to be added to my long list of mediocre restaurants in Charlotte. Womp womp.
