Okay, admittedly for a city the size of Calgary the TELUS World of Science is a little small but there is still a better-then-okay time to be had there. It's a great way to spend an afternoon with the niece (son, daughter, nephew, et cetera) and it doesn't cost much more then a movie but provides better entertainment for child and guardian alike. The temporary exhibits can cover subjects from satellites to Bob the Builder (the former being maybe a bit more palatable to the grown-up companions) simply call ahead or check the website to see what the exhibits are before going to avoid any cartoon character related exhibits and you should be fine. I would suggest packing a lunch or at least some juice boxes since like most museum-type establishments in North America any food that might be found on site is both expensive and kinda' nasty (astronaut ice-cream excluded).
