Our company reserves rooms at this particular hotel on a regular basis especially over the last 3 weeks that we have been in Charlotte. I will give credit where credit is due as the hotel is clean and reasonably priced.
However our happiness was short lived due to items being stolen from our room. We arrived 8/28/2017. It was our 2nd night (8/30/2017) and we came back to your room after work. We both are freshening up for dinner with our boss is when we noticed our make up was missing along with our make brushes. I know what you thinking...How random is that? Not to mention that our make up was in a make up bag, in a larger make up bag in a drawer. It was all put away when we left that morning. So before we called the manager we wanted to be extra sure that it didn't fall on the floor. So we looked inside and under everything. My co-worker left her hair products out on the night stand table and those were stolen as well.
We called down to the front desk and they inform us a manager was there. We decided to talk to the manager in person. The manager Guillermo. We explained our situation and he was very nice and very genuine. He informed us that he would notify the his GM and they would contact us in the morning.
Upon checking out we stop by the front desk around 9:30am on 8/31/2017. We spoke to the GM who's name in Genia. Unfortunately our first impression of her gave us a gut feeling that she didn't care. We were not greeting with a warm and friendly disposition rather a "we are bothering her" impression. Whether she meant it or not that was our impression. She clearly hadn't read her email from Guillermo so we had to tell our story from the beginning. She agreed this was such a unique circumstance. She keep saying our "items were misplaced". I let it go because I knew how random this entire situation may seem. I ask her if she wants pictures and cost of the items that were missing and she said, "no". By her response I knew she was going to dismiss this because our "Make-Up" wasn't valuable to her. She informs me that they will conduct an investigation and let me know the outcome.
I received an email from her that evening stating they were still conducting an investigation. I then respond with pictures of the missing items along with the cost of them.
On 9/1/2017 at the end of the day I receive the following response from her
"Good Afternoon Ladies,
Thank you for your patience we have concluded our investigation and have not found any reason to suspect hotel employees responsible for the removal of any guest room items. The hotel does not accept responsibly for personal items lost and/or misplaced. I would recommend filing a report with the Mecklenburg Police Department regarding any items that you cannot locate at this time. If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Genia Vanterpool | General Manager "
Really??? Thats the closure we get? Unacceptable.
My response to the above email:
"Genia,
I am a little bothered that you continue to reference that our items were misplaced. Although I can appreciate you conducting your investigation and following protocol, I can't imagine any employee ever admitting to a theft and even if they did I am quite confident I would have received the same response from you. I understand that because our stolen items were not considered of value, the point of the matter is things were taken from our room. That is a personal violation. You can quote policy about not assuming liability for items all you want but you could also do the right thing which you have chosen not to do. Frankly, you could have offered a credit or something towards our room to keep us as customer's. However I can see that the priority here is not the customer satisfaction or to feel comfortable, it is to have no admission of fault.
This is truly a disappointment. I have every intention of escalating this as well as write a very detailed review on all social media about Home 2 Suites regarding this situation. I nor any member of our company will continue to stay at this establishment.
Best wishes to you,
Rachel Palmer | Executive Vice President of Operations"
For one I don't believe an investigation was conducted. However regardless of how petty you may think this is someone went through our personal belongings to take the items that were stolen. We received no apology from her yes the accusation that we misplaced our items.
Its very sad as this is a nice hotel however I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. If you decide to stay here I would not allow housekeeping in your room.
