The size of this zoo is both its best and worst quality. They have a ton of animals including a bunch that I've never seen in zoos before. The polar bear cub and the white lions were especially cute. But it also takes a long time to walk around and see everything. The Canadian animal exhibit is especially out of the way. But the enclosures are nice, offering the potential for several views of every animal. The only animal we tried to see and didn't get at least a glimpse of was the cheetah.
Like all zoos it gets crowded no matter what. It seemed that my girlfriend and I could not escape the hordes of kids running around even though we went on a Monday morning. I guess that's just how zoos are, people let their kids do whatever they want...but I digress.
It costs about $25 per person to go plus another $10 per car for parking. It seems a little pricey to me since I've been going to the zoo in DC all my life and that's free (except for parking). But I will say that this zoo is maintained a lot better probably as a result of that fee. Even the bathrooms were clean and it was nice to see both recycle bins and trashcans all over the park to prevent litter.
