Due to a tight schedule of planned Museum Day visits, I wanted to start out with breakfast as I miss this meal consistently.
The Good Egg is a good old faithful restaurant with a tried and true breakfast formula. And their centralized location (pardon the pun since they are located on park central avenue) makes it easier for me to traverse various downtown locations from this starting point.
I had the Eye Opener Combo, and the bacon was just delightful. It wasn't overdone, and crispy - but not burnt. Everything else was good.
What was quite notable was the service. Jesus was my server, and he was just cheery as could be. I also made note of the fact that the hostesses were just as friendly. And they greeted their regulars by name; which was just a delight to hear.
As I was leaving, I asked the hostess why everyone was just so cheery here. And she just quickly replied that they are all early morning people that get there @ 5:30 in the morning to smile and greet people. It isn't an act for them. It's a way of life and they enjoy it; otherwise, they would be doing something else.
That sounds like a wonderful perspective as far as I was concerned. The atmosphere was just a great way to start the day, in spite of the fact that it was going to be another 110+ degree weather day!
