I don't know what happened to this restaurant! We started going to Desert Jade more than 20 years ago, and the food was outstanding. It was very reminiscent of the Chinese food that I grew up with in New York. After a couple of years of not going to the restaurant, we decided to try it again last night. Very disappointing! The service was terrible. The place was empty, so there was no excuse for that. I ordered roast pork appetizer. I thought the menu said that it would come as ribs, but, no, it was just sliced roast pork that was absolutely tough and tasteless. I had to put the sweet and sour sauce that was on the table on top of the pork, which should not be necessary. The sauce was watered down. I then ordered the chicken that was breaded in an egg wash and deep-fried on top of vegetables. The sauce that came with this dish was tasteless and again I was very disappointed. My friend ordered chicken with cashew nuts and I tasted her dinner, as well. Even her cashews had no flavor them. I don't know who owns this restaurant now, ut it can't be owned by he same family or descendants who originally owned Desert Jade. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
