  • I had only been here once before, and that was for takeout. Me and my friend decided to head on back for a little happy hour action before our baseball game downtown. We asked where we wanted to be seated, and we chose outside. Turns out, that was a bad choice. Choose inside...you will see why later on. The Parlor has a great happy hour. $7.00 pizzas and $5.00 appetizers. We each went with a pizza, and an app. I went with the "House Pizza" and the Fritto Misto for my appetizer. My friend went with the "Salsiccia Pizza" and the Cauliflower appetizer. I had a Coke to drink. Here is how everything was............. Fritto Misto- This is a mixture of fried calamari and shrimp. It was excellent! The breading was perfect, and both the shrimp and calamari rings tasted great! It was served with a little cocktail type sauce and everything worked well. For $5.00 during happy hour, this is a great appetizer! I would definitely get it again! Cauliflower- Surprisingly, not bad! Its baked cauliflower and cheese. I ate a few pieces and it tasted pretty good. My friend really loved it and took about half of it home to eat later on that day. I would probably get it again. House Pizza- This pizza is described as, "Bacon, kale, giardiniera, mozzarella and garlic." It sounded pretty good, but unfortunately I was not impressed. When they say giardiniera, they basically mean "a shitload of bell peppers". This pizza had WAY TOO MANY toppings on it. The crust was super thin and could not hold all these toppings. Even after scraping off about 75% of the veggies, it still wasn't that easy to eat. The bacon was fine and the kale was just ok. The mozzarella on this pizza was all wrong, too. When it first came to the table, it looked like it was a ricotta almost....the cheese was real creamy and thin and almost looked like a white sauce instead of a cheese. The crust was pretty plain too. In my other review, I stated that the crust was flavorless. Pretty much in the same boat this time too. I LOVE pizza, and I only ate 3 slices of this pizza. I gave the rest away to a guy down near the stadium. I think/hope I just chose a bad pie. My friend ordered the Salsiccia, and I ate a few slices of her pizza. That one was much better and you could actually pick that one up and enjoy a slice the way it was intended to be enjoyed. Service from our waitress was on point. Every staff member I encountered was nice. I do have one last beef though...and it comes from my first paragraph. We chose to sit outside on the patio. I DO NOT recommend that. Reason? FLIES! It was disgusting. We had our hand in constant motion shooing away flies. There were a group of 5 flies that would just not leave our table. It made our meal feel rushed and kind of dirty. We should have probably asked to move inside....live and learn, right? Next time, if there is a next time, I will definitely sit inside. Overall, it was an ok dinner. The price was right, the apps were great and the service was friendly. The pizza was just average though and their crust is not my favorite. Those damn flies were really a buzzkill, too! Will I be back? I think I might give it one more chance to try out a different pizza or two during happy hour, but that might be it.
