| - We had an awful experience at this dealership. They took a car off the ramp for us to look at. The salesman suggested that we get in the car so he could show us the features. When we got in, he drove to a gas station 5 minutes away to "show us the features". On the way to the gas station he spent more time looking at the radio and pointing out obvious features (like auto locks and windows) than he did actually looking at the road. When we arrived at the gas station, we were able to get a closer look at the car (something that we could have easily done at the lot and would have preferred to do at the lot) and realized that the car wasn't for us. On the drive back to the lot we told him that there was one other type of car that we are interested in. He offered to check the computer system to see if they had any in their other lot. He checked and discovered that their what he called "hold lot" had 3 of those vehicles that met our classifications. We asked him where this lot was and he told us 10 minutes away. We really wanted an idea of where we were going with him so we asked again, but all he would tell us was "10 minutes away". Since he told us that this lot had cars that met our criteria, we decided to go. However, not only did we drive 20 minutes to this "hold lot", it was really just the dealership on Sahara. He should have given us warning that he was taking us to another dealership because, for all he knew we could have already looked at that dealership earlier and not have found something. If we had been to this dealership earlier, that is what would have happened, since, after driving 20 minutes to the other dealership they did not have ANY of the 3 cars the salesman assured us that this lot had. He tried to excuse this by blaming the computers saying that they "only update every 72 hours". However, if you are going to drag customers to a lot 20 minutes away (not 10), you should really know if the lot has the cars you are guaranteeing, especially since this is just another dealership. The salesman did say that he called to verify and they checked their computers - which he told us are the same computers as what he uses to look up cars. What is the point of calling if they are looking at the same computer you are looking at and they have no intention of physically checking the lot to see if any of the 3 vehicles are on site? If a call really was made, he should know well enough to have the lot physically checked, especially since it was a weekend so, if the system only updates every 72 hours, there is a really good chance those vehicles are gone.
In addition, if he had told us where the other lot/dealership was, we could have met him over there in our personal vehicle. That way, if the none of the vehicles were "the one" we wouldn't have to drive all the way back to the dealership. Since he would not tell us we were just going to the Sahara dealership, we were forced to drive the 20 minutes there with him, find out they didn't have any of the cars he promised us, then take an awkward and angry car ride back to the Centennial Hyundai dealership, just to drive right past the Sahara dealership to get home.
He apologized for wasting our time and his, but we would have loved to have saved us both time by not driving us to a gas station to find out something we could have told him in 3 minutes on the lot and having someone at the Sahara dealership actually check the lot to see if the cars he planned to show us had been sold.
This experience was incredibly frustrating and will keep us from purchasing any vehicles from Planet or Centennial Hyundai in the future - even after an over 5 month search for the right car.
