If you decide to use Red Rock Fertility, be ready to undergo unnecessary tests that will cost you a lot of money out of pocket.
The string of tests Red Rock asks you to do prior to ever trying to conceive start as simple as blood work and grow to as complicated as having to be put under by an anesthesiologist. Two of the tests are so similar in nature that insurance won't pay for them if they are conducted on the same day. I'm healthy and in my late 20's. I've always had regular periods. I became suspicious that the tests weren't medically necessary for me and told the nurse practitioner that I didn't think I needed them all. She became 'short' with me on the phone and said I can do whatever I want. She seemed angry that I didn't want to do all of the tests.
So I elected not to do the most involved treatments, i.e. the one's I had to go under anesthesia for. However, one of the tests I took prior, revealed a polyp in my uterus. I was told by Dr. Littman that I should have the treatment/test I initially opted out of doing, to remove the polyp. I spoke with an OBGYN friend of mine who told me that Dr. Littman finds a polyp in 90% of her patients.
I decided it was better to be safe then sorry so I went through with the hysteroscopy. I found out that day that the anesthesiologist for the procedure was going to be Dr. Littman's husband. When the procedure was over I asked Dr. Littman if she "got it", meaning the polyp, and she at first seemed confused. Then said, "Oh yeah. Everything looks fine."
I was told by the office staff several times before I committed to the procedure that my deductible had been met and I would not have to pay anything for the procedure. Then I got a bill in the mail for over $500. When I called to ask about it I was told my deductible wasn't met and the procedure was paid for, but this bill was for the anesthesiologist.
Red Rock will also charge you a large amount of money to monitor you while on fertility medication and trying the "at home" method of conception. I was told it would be $5,000 for two cycles, two try's essentially, and that does not cover the actual cost of the fertility medication. That $5,000 only covers monitoring ultrasounds and blood work.
So to anyone who decides to go to Red Rock Fertility, get ready to finance Dr. Littman's newest car. Oh, and her husband's too.
Update:
Dr. Littman told me that it would be very difficult for me to get pregnant, and that my uterus was 10 years older than I actually was. Since that time, I have gotten pregnant with 3 children on the first try, all 3 times. I went to Dr. Littman because I was unable to have children the traditional way and wanted to ensure I didn't have any fertility issues. She was obviously wrong about the "difficulty" I would face while trying to get pregnant.
I find it suspicious that she had so many bad reviews on her previous Yelp page and now the practice has a new Yelp page with better reviews.
Update to my update 6/28/18
I've now had 4 children with no issue using at home insemination. As I stated before, I got pregnant on the first try with my first three kids and now the same happened with the fourth. After Red Rock fertility told my donor he had slow sperm and me that I would have problems getting pregnant. I had ZERO issue getting pregnant.
