| - This ain't no Johnny, Jim, Jack, or Jose kinda joint. Eureka! Well sortta.
Another entrant spurring on the revitalization of the DTLV Arts District. On the corner of Freemont and 6th, it has everything you'd expect from "that" place. Industrial chic interior, casual vibe, solid selection of rotating casks and brown libations, craft cocktails, and modern American bar grub.
Dishes are drink friendly with bold flavors.
"Share It" dishes ordered were just OK. The Mac N' Cheese balls (as the name implies, rolled in a parm bread crumb mixture and deep fried), Crispy on the outside, warm, creamy and cheesy on the inside; slightly oily, solid. The crispy glazed Brussels sprouts, OK, bitterness enhanced by the vegetal chimichurri but brightened by a somewhat sweet orange chili glaze. Both work with drinks but neither stands alone.
Ready for your Eureka moment? This is it, the bone marrow burger. A thick, all beef patty (mixture of cuts not specified but taste like some dry aged cut is included), well cooked and finished with an umami supercharged bone marrow, shitake butter. A horseradish aioli enhances the dry aged character of the beef, while a grilled roma tomato adds acidity. The warm bun soaks up all that goodness...oh heck, it's good eats.
The butcher's steak dip (basic French dip) and bison burger with bacon jalapeƱo jam also good but I wasn't gonna trade another sample of my burger for either.
Note: Burgers can be served on a bed of arugula tossed in a lemon vinaigrette instead of in a bun. HAHA!
Service is casual and friendly.
Very good beverage program. Rotating selection (including seasonal) of 40 or so casks. Rotating selection of brown libations. Creative sounding cocktails though none sampled. Prices are in line for DTLV.
Fills a niche and does it solidly.
