| - Last week my pup and I were attacked by a big, vicious dog on our walk. Luckily I was able to get my dog away before he was killed, but he was in pretty bad shape. When his regular vet, Lakewood Animal Hospital, referred us to AEC West for potential overnight care, I knew we'd be in great hands.
AEC was just a short drive away, thankfully, and the new facility felt extremely clean. We didn't call ahead but we were helped right away. Luckily my dog didn't need overnight care, but he did need to be knocked out for staples and other procedures. The vet came into our room before anything was done to explain what they'd need to do to properly care for my dog, the estimated cost range and gladly answered all my questions. I had a lot of concerns about my dog going under with his heart murmur, but they assured me he'd be constantly monitored and if his heart rate fluctuated, they'd wake up immediately. I was relieved and comforted by their attention to detail and care.
I will also say it was nice to know the cost up front and even better to see that it wasn't something absolutely outrageous. Although my dog's welfare is worth any cost, I didn't feel I was getting taken advantage of in a vulnerable state.
When we came to pick up my dog, we were given very clear instructions for his care after the attack. It was not only explained, but also given to me on a clear, printed sheet, so there was no confusion.
I really appreciated the care from AEC West and I can't wait for them to see how my pup has healed thanks to them.
