| - If I could give an infinite amount of stars, I would. I have a crazy and long story to tell you, but it is so worth telling. I stay in Scottsdale one week a month so I know the area pretty well. My daughter who lives here introduced me to door dash, a restaurant delivery service. I loaded the app on my iPad and could not believe the selection of fabulous restaurants that are offered, it was like the opentable for dining in! I was sadly mistaken. Unlike opentable, not all, if any of the restaurants are aware they are participating in this service. Last night, my daughter was out of town, my husband was at a dinner meeting for a conference he was attending and I was living the single life in my daughters apartment. A good movie and dinner from my favorite restaurant 5th and Wine, a glass of Chardonnay are the makings of a perfect evening. I ordered my usual organic salmon with bourbon glaze atop quinoa and sautéed veggies, and a veggie salad. My credit card on file was charged and I can track the movements of "my driver" who' s name was Kenneth. I put in my order about 6:00 pm, knowing it takes about an hour. I saw that Kenneth had picked up my order at approximately 6:36 and patiently waited until 7:10. I went back the the door dash to see what was going on as I had ordered through them before and all went well. It said my food had been delivered and I was to give them a review. I was shocked! Credit card charged, no food and it's 7:30. The app does not have an easily accessible number so logically, I called the restaurant. The person who answered the phone said she had no idea what I was talking about, they use no such service. I went nuts. Was I going mad? The manager got on the phone with me and calmed me down. He explained that he was first of all, terribly sorry for this but was not only a manager but s partner and assured me that he did not participate and had not heard of door dash. They did a bit of research and found that my order was called in using my name but it was a man, I am not, then picked up the order using a master card. Not the card I had used and been charged. But the food never showed up, I was horrified that my credit card had been compromised as this is the age we live in and Scott, the manager advised that I should hang up and call my credit card company. He asked for my address and said he would cook and deliver a new meal to me for my inconvenience. I told him it was not about the food but the security of my credit card at that point but he insisted. I then called VISA and they said that I could reverse the charges after it posted.
Scott Yanni, manager of 5th and Wine and knight in shining armor comes riding in on his gas powered steed to bring me my dinner AND a bottle of Chardonnay for MY trouble. Now, he's the one not getting paid! He said he would continue to investigate this and ask that door dash take his restaurant off their app. Unfortunately, the app was tied to my CC but my daughter's phone number and they said they tried to call but since my daughter was out of town, she didn't get the call either.
I assumed several things. That they had delivered before and there would be no reason why they had trouble locating me and that they worked in partnership with the restaurant. In good faith, as a business owner myself, I cannot continue to use a third party company who does not make the establishment aware they are working under their name. When something goes wrong, one logically would go back to the restaurant to get a resolution.
What I want you to mostly get from this is, I already knew what an awesome restaurant 5th and Wine is but now I know why. Scott Yanni, you have my business forever! I urge everyone who has not had the pleasure to go and experience, excellent food, wonderful service, a nice and fairly priced wine list, all in a great relaxed setting in Old Town, do it tonight!
