| - Back when we lived in Madison we'd come by here to get most of our meat for the week. The quality is great and we especially enjoyed their homemade brat flavors. Even more, though, we loved supporting a great neighborhood, northside shop where the employees recognized you and happily helped you out.
During my past visit to Madison I filled a cooler with 40 of their brats--I intended to buy 4 packages of 4, but they had a weekly deal of a dollar a brat if you bought 10 packages of 4, so 40 it was. I have to say I'm glad I did it--it'll be great to pull out a package of jalapeno & cheddar or gyro or, my favorite, philly cheesesteak brats and have an easy and flavorful dinner. Now that we don't live in Madison I really miss their amazing specials like this one. Yes, you will need a ton of room in your freezer, but it's great to stock up on their homemade brats, burger patties, or chicken breasts for easy dinners. In addition to their in-store weekly specials Jim's often has a 2-$10-gift-cards-for-$10 coupon on madison.com. Combine all those deals and you can walk away with a lot of meat for a great price.
And, like others have said, their customer service is stellar. My husband and I have had numerous conversations with the owner, John, about how we could use meat, about what kind of deals are coming up, things like that. It's nice to be recognized if you regularly patronize a place.
Sure, Jim's doesn't have 100% local, organic, and free-range meat. You still get quality meat, but you also get flavorful food at amazing prices and a smile. It's hard to beat that.
