  • THE HOLY GRAIL OF HEARTY SEAFOOD AND STEWS. I loved this little place. I must go again before I leave Vegas! Arrived at the Palace Casino after a couple of hours of walking with rumbling tummies through the strip. We knew we were going to eat here so we tried to save our appetites. Not recommended next time since we did not know how long we'd be in line. Once we got in line around 5 pm on Wednesday I saw we had 8 people in front of us (4 couples). The little old group of senior citizens behind my friend and I had the 99 cent margarita slushies offered by the casino so while I held the line my friend went off in search of two. He came back with them and they were super sweet and cold but yummy refreshment and not strong at all. The line moved along and 45 minutes later we and the two couples before us were seated (6 people) in a row down at the front of the bar. Our efficient servers took our drink orders and our drinks and bread buns along with butter were brought out promptly. Couldn't tell if the bread was just funny tasting or sour dough but that's not the point since I was there for the star of the menu! My friend ordered the house gumbo and I ordered the combination pan roast by yelp's recommendation and NEVER LOOKED BACK. Took another 45 mins to an hour or so for everyone's food to come out and by this time my friend was ravenous but once the first couple's entrees were ready so was ours so no complaints on time and kudos to the awesome chef Ez (Ez? EZ? Idk) on his time management. The man deserves a pay raise. Let me just say that you can taste the love in this soup so much you feel like getting married. You feel like carrying it away from the table, bowl and all, and booking a hotel suite upstairs. You feel like no matter how long they tell you to wait for your pan roast, the wait will be worth it. It's that good. My friend's gumbo I thought couldn't possibly beat my pan roast but lo and behold idk how they did it but they managed to make more than one star soup selection on the menu equally competitive as the other. Actually, by the other reviewers pretty much the whole menu can compete with each other, it all just depends on your taste. I love gumbo and also the pan roast. The options seem endless now, it might just tear me apart to order something other than the pan roast. I may have to not so subtly direct everyone I bring here to order something else under the pretense that we will "share" *wink wink*. Then, as if she sensed my conflicting emotions within Rayma our server asked if we had ever tried their chowder. She responded to our no with a little soup bowl of their New England style clam chowder for us to share. I could've cried, it was pretty great too! Nearly wanted to order a bowl of it to go but the portion they gave me of pan roast was so huge I decided next time. By the time we finished our meal it was nearing 9 pm and we were not so pleasantly full, with huge smiles as we chatted with the friendly couples next to us. We got our bills and tipped extra for the awesome service and great food. Our leftovers (half his gumbo, 2/3 my pan roast) was enough for three hungry people to share, which we did once we got home (kind of regretting it now). Since I was the least food comatose I had driven. Ahh, if the valet could've only drove us home it would have been heaven. Overall, a successful and great experience. I am going back again every single time I stop in Vegas.
