  • What an interesting little place. We met friends here for lunch the other day and although it's only a stones throw from where I live, I'd never heard of it before. Everything on their menu board sounds fantastic and I will say, it was hard to make a decision. They offer organic coffee and tea and have a chalkboard full of various kinds of sandwiches (including all day breakfast sandwiches). A large coffee will run you around $2.00 however, refills are only $1.00 and the sandwiches range from $6.00 - $8.00. They have a steady stream of customers and there seems to be a lot of 'regulars', which is no surprise with the personable service you receive here. I decided to go with the special of the day: Schnitzel on a Panini served with Sauerkraut and Potato Salad - $7.00 Just the right amount of everything! The sandwich was simple with only the addition of grainy mustard... definitely a 'less is more' scenario. The Potato Salad was creamy and delicious and the Sauerkraut... oh the Sauerkraut! Now I don't typically include Sauerkraut as a staple in my diet but this one I certainly could! I think the secret is the fennel seeds... it just added another dimension to the dish. My husband ordered from the main board and had the Pulled Pork Panini - $8.00 He wasn't going to share much of this one but I was able to wrestle him for a bite. The sandwich is made with onions, BBQ sauce, cheese and an herbed garlic mayo. The culmination of flavours is brilliant. Absolutely delicious! The soup of the day was West African Peanut Soup. Our friends each ordered a bowl of which they, ever so graciously, allowed me to try (after tasting it, I'm not sure I would have made the same offer!!). Holy smokers! If you ever find it on the menu - try it!! It's a very rich, smooth and creamy soup with just the right about of heat that'll getcha in the back of the throat. Fantastic! I wonder how much it would cost to swindle the receipe from the Chef?? Hmmm.... ;)
