  • This is a general-order review for all of their locations, and I've been to all of them. A great cafe with much better than average cafe food, and (happily) wine. They have a nice range of sandwiches from very heavy morning fuel (egg, greasy meat, heavy cibatta) to light snacks. Their tuna sandwich quality depends the location. The South Park one is great, the West Wash one has too many large vegetable chunks and gets a little gross. Their vegetarian sandwich tastes fine but is a bit skimpy with content. Similarly their basic egg sandwich is as big as a thimble so if you're hungry don't be fooled by its low price. You get what you pay for. They use Rishi tea and provide reasonably good portions per order. And they roast their own coffee. In the past I used to think that they had the absolute worst coffee in Madison, but the past 3-4 years they've become a legitimate coffee force, occasionally surprising me with the best cup of the week. A recent Sumatra roast tasted like berries and was fascinating. Sometimes a good place to work, other times way too busy. But a great place to meet and talk and chill by the square.
