  • Don't let the unassuming strip-plaza fool you. This little shop is a goldmine of everything delectable from Uruguay. They have a huge variety of empanadas: beef, chicken, chorizo (my personal fave), vegetable ... They have packaged ALFAJORES ... OMG. Home made. The Chaja cakes are exquisite - filled with dulce de lece ... I mean, what can I say ... My favourite kind of pastries - for those of us who are not into cream-filled things (although they do have them here), there is enough variety of cream-filled-free items. The lady there was very nice - got a friendly hola when I entered. Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a pleasant surprise - and my surprise today was Emporio De Los Sandwiches!
