| - My husband unfortunately experienced a meniscus tear that was causing pain and discomfort. Hedley was closest to us and covered by insurance, so I made an appointment. We were scheduled to see Dr. Bert at the Tempe office next to Tempe St. Luke's. We call Dr. Bert Dr. Cruise because he seriously looks like a younger, better looking Tom Cruise. He's smart, efficient, friendly, and gets right to the point. He was so good with my husband who cannot stand doctors. His staff was the same way, from the nurses to the front office, everyone was efficient, friendly, and took good care of us.
My husband ended up requiring outpatient surgery to fix the tear. While St. Luke's surgery center leaves something to be desired, I would trust any family member with Dr. Bert. He had my husband in and out of surgery in around an hour. He came out and showed me pictures of everything he did and fully explained what to expect after surgery. My husband had never been under anesthesia for any reason, so he was very anxious on surgery day. Dr. Bert was so calm and reassuring, I think it helped my handsome strong man stay calm heading into it.
After care was also great. They followed up with us in a day or two to make sure my husband was healing fine and had his pain under control. When we went back for the post-op followup, Dr. Bert and his nurse both were sure to tell us right away that my husband had high blood pressure and urged us to see a primary care about that. I appreciate that this wasn't in the scope of what they were seeing my husband for, but they cared enough to mention it to him - twice.
The only reason I took off one star was because we saw Dr. Bert in a different office every time. The first time it was conveniently close, the surgery was in Phoenix, and then we had to drive all the way out to East Mesa for the post-op. Not very convenient, but that's not Bert Cruise's fault. If your joints need care, Dr. Bert can take care of you.
