| - My prayers have been answered.
I can now walk to get sushi, and not any sushi, GREAT sushi. Here is a breakdown of my meal on opening day.
Hot green tea served in a heavy pot, good tea.
Confetti shrimp - This was cooked pieces of shrimp, in a wonderful spicy creamy sauce. The sauce was amazing and the plate looked beautiful. The portion size was perfect as an appetizer.
Miso Soup - This was extremely flavorful, a nice deep miso taste with lots of tofu in it. This was served in a huge cast iron pot that stays on the table. Really good soup with excellent presentation.
Sunshine Roll-
This roll was awesome! Chopped (not pureed) salmon inside with a small piece of salmon on top and a paper thin slice of lemon. Complimented with a few dashes of sriracha on the side. Honestly my new favorite roll. Not over-complicated, bright flavors, just delicious. I am a bit weary of the huge over the top monster rolls at some other sushi places, just because this is America does not mean "the bigger, the better". This roll was "mouth-sized".
We also got a couple of orders of salmon sashimi, again fresh, nice cuts and fair portion sizes.
They offered complimentary plum wine ice cream that was also fantastic.
Overall I think Moira is a great addition to the downtown movement and can't wait to go back. My budget is in trouble...
