| - I don't usually leave reviews, but sometimes it's more warranted than others, and I think Yelp should be used to help other potential customers find great businesses and avoid bad ones.
I spend a couple of months in Vegas every summer, and as many of you know, finding a good barber in a new city isn't easy. That's why I was happy to come across this shop. It had mostly great reviews and the owner/barber Jay, seemed talented with the clippers. I called, made an appointment, and got a haircut. Everything went fine, and the haircut was definitely satisfactory. However, things started to go awry on the second go around. My haircut was fine, but when using the straight razor, Jay cut me on my face. I've been nicked before so it was no big deal at the time (or so I thought). I paid him, tipped him, and left.
Once home and I cleaned up the cut, and found out that it was much worse than I realized at the shop. I texted Jay about it and he handled the situation well by apologizing and offering a free cut on my next visit. This is when things began to go awry. I showed up to the shop about a week or two later, and Jay told me he was leaving early, and had appointments booked for the day. I understood and told him I'd try again. I texted a couple more times when he was close to closing- again understandable. However, on one of those days I also inquired about the next day and was told the whole day was full? Then texted another morning and got no response until an hour & a half later when I sent another text saying booking an appt as a lot easier when it wasn't a freebie. He stated he had clients and walk-ins to take care of and couldn't just take me without a set appointment. This was slightly confusing because at least two of my attempts were to make appointments the morning of or the day before, and it wasn't clear if he accepts walk-ins why I couldn't also walk-in. I tried one last time to text him one evening that I would like to make an appointment for the next day and got no response. I know the difference when someone just can't fit you in, and when someone is blowing you off, this was definitely the case of the latter.
I read some of the negative reviews about the lack of professionalism at this shop and with Jay in particular, but decided to try it anyway. I still have a slight mark, & could've made a much bigger issue out of the situation, but decided to just leave a review so others could be aware when deciding on where to go. There are definitely other shops in town that will have better customer service and responsiveness.
