If I could give less of a rating, I would. Last weekend I dropped my parents off at the airport to catch their flight home. Shortly after dropping them off and driving home, I received a phone call notifying me that American Airlines overbooked the flight and would not be boarding my parents despite being at the gate in a timely manner and AA was not willing compensate my parents for the inconvenience.They said the best they could do was to fly them out 24 hours later. They ended up waiting to catch a later flight that was flying in to a neighboring city. This required my parents to rent a car and drive home several hours later than anticipated. Plus, having to drive 2+ hours to go pick up their car at the other airport. I am extremely disappointed with how AA handled this situation. My parents paid for two tickets on this flight, were there in the time required to board, and were denied. AA cost my parents time and additional unforeseen costs. Knowing this, I will avoid all future travel with this airlines.
