  • This Gelato Spot, located on the Northwest corner of E Camelback and N 32nd, makes for a very refreshing place to try to beat the Phoenix heat. The flooring made of rocks, which gives the inside of this store a beautiful outdoor courtyard feel. The dark stones add to the feeling of coolness inside, but I would hate to have to be the one to keep it clean. All of their gelato is made fresh daily and it looks as god as it tastes. Not only are they all beautiful colors, but they are displayed nicely; even in the display cases, each flavor has little accents that are attractive and informative (slices of pineapple on the pineapple gelato or mango on the tropical flavor. Their gelato is not very expensive, $3.89 for one flavor, $4.79 for two flavors, or $5.69 for three flavors. A waffle cone is $.75 extra. They also make custom cakes to order with 48 hours notice. The prices are not unreasonable at $30 for a small, $39 for a large, and $47 for sheet cakes, and you get to pick 2 flavors. One nice thing about the Gelato Spot is that they offer free tastes of any and all of their flavors. Being a first time visitor from out of state, I was very unfamiliar with their flavors and had a hard time deciding which to choose. The employee assisting me was very patient while explaining all about the different flavors and allowed to to taste as many as I needed to make my final decision. I finally settled on a combination of two flavors, Bacio (dark chocolate and hazelnut) and Tiramisu. My brother chose two other flavors. We sat and enjoyed a little people watching while we sampled the tasty treats. There is a coffee place next door and there is an open wall NOT separating it from the gelato store so I am assuming that they share a common owner. I'm not sure I can picture ordering a coffee and a gelato at the same time, but it did provide for more people watching opportunities. I would definitely come back.
