| - I've been to La Santisima twice, and it's definitely one of my favorite Mexican places ever already. It was what changed me from being someone who didn't like Mexican (though I grew up where the only Mexican was Plaza Azteca-level Mexican) to someone who loves it and is excited to try more!
PROS:
- The salsa bar: Great flavors and variety! My favorite was the Mexicana, but mixing the pecan with the jicama was also divine. We accidentally tried the strawberry salsa (it was unlabeled when we went, and we thought it would be spicy), but it was also surprisingly delicious!
- The food: I ordered the taco plate both times. I arrived starving and left stuffed beyond measure with a to-go box in hand (and I eat a lot.) I ordered the Cabo shrimp taco and the Pacific white fish tacos on separate occasions, and they were both fried perfectly, without being too fishy (which I like). I loved their chicharrones taco, but my boyfriend (who doesn't have general sentimental, warm and fuzzy feelings towards chicharrones like I do) found it a little tough. I can't currently remember the names of the other tacos I got, but they were all phenomenal. I've also heard great things about the burros. Just thinking about it makes me hungry again.
CONS:
- The service: I'm not sure what about the service makes it so slow; the first time I went, it was packed, and understandably, service was slow. But yesterday, I went and there were probably 15 tables open, two groups ahead of us, and it took about 20 minutes for us to get seated, with no explanation for why we weren't being seated. Additionally, someone at my table ordered a bottle of wine and it took them about 10 minutes to come back and say "Sorry, we don't have that. Would you like something else?"
Tl;dr: If you have time to kill and good company, definitely worth going to. If you care about service quality and speed, maybe not.
